REHAB is always willing to look at alternative living situations that best suit an individual's needs.
The goal of REHAB's residential program is to assist individuals to attain independent living situations whenever possible. Services provided focus on learning living skills such as money management, cooking, shopping and accessing public transportation. The residential program fulfills the needs of individuals with varying degrees of ability through different housing options. Supervision of all living situations is based on the ability of the individual. We currently serve 89 individuals in various settings.
COMMUNITY RESIDENCES
We have several homes (IRA's) of different sizes throughout the local community. Residents are provided with 24 hour supervision to assist them with improving their independent living skills.
WARYAS HOUSE
Waryas House is the first of its kind in New York and possibly the United States. Waryas House is an alcohol and substance abuse recovery program for individuals with disabilities. In addition to traditional treatment methods, REHAB has been creative in the use of art therapy, music and drama.
SUPERVISED APARTMENTS
REHAB's supervised apartments promote independent living with support staff located on site. Each resident has his/her own apartment or shares one with another resident.
INDEPENDENT/SUPPORTIVE APARTMENTS
Residents live with increased independence in various apartments and homes within local communities. Staff contact is on an as needed basis and no staff lives on site.
ALTERNATIVE HOUSING/LONG TERM CARE PROGRAM
REHAB is recognized as a leader in working with families to create innovative alternative living arrangements. Possibilities include home donations, estate planning and other future care planning issues including guardianship.
