REHAB's Clinic began by meeting the rehabilitation therapy needs of students from the REHAB School. Our clinic is a highly regarded diagnostic and treatment center consisting of a variety of experienced professionals. Today, the clinic serves over 1200 individuals with disabilities and is the largest provider of outpatient pediatric therapy in Dutchess County.
In addition to our clinic locations in Poughkeepsie, services are provided in homes, school districts, and occasionally other community locations such as parks or playgrounds. Innovative milestones within the clinic include Dutchess County's first early intervention service and The Infant & Parent Program (IPP). IPP works closely with the Vassar Brothers Hospital Special Care Nursery in providing developmental follow-up and evaluation services. Through this partnership REHAB tracks the developmental progress of children with special needs in Vassar's neonatal unit through the age of 4 1/2 years. The end result is to provide information and research to families of children at risk, make referrals for services when needed and provide valuable information to neonatologists in their evaluation of medical practices within the neonatal unit.
PROGRAMS
SENSORY ADVENTURE
At REHAB’s Sensory Adventure Program,
children with Sensory Processing Disorders receive sensory integration therapy in a fun,
child-friendly environment. This therapy has
proven to assist children diagnosed with:
- Pervasive Developmental Disorder
- Sensory Integration Dysfunction
- Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder
- Other Autism Spectrum Disorders
At Sensory Adventure specialized equipment allows children to swing, spin, jump and climb while a trained occupational or physical therapist helps to channel the child’s energy and processing of sensory information so that they may more easily perform daily tasks.
PROGRAM FOR AUGMENTATIVE COMMUNICATION ENHANCEMENT (P.A.C.E.)
P.A.C.E. evolved from REHAB's speech therapy department. Specialists in augmentative communication determine the communication needs of individuals who are non-verbal or are severely speech impaired. REHAB therapists make recommendations for assistive technology and/or therapies to enhance the skills identified and assist in the adaptations of equipment.
OUTPATIENT SERVICES
Outpatient services include physical, occupational & speech therapy, physiatry, social work, psychology and equipment assessment for children and adults at all REHAB Programs locations.
EQUIPMENT TEAM AND BRACE CLINIC
REHAB's equipment team is an occupational and physical therapy team with 15+ years of experience in seating and positioning. They evaluate the need for specialized equipment and coordinate vendor services to assist REHAB clients and their families in obtaining medical equipment. (braces, wheelchairs, strollers, home equipment, etc.)
SCHOOL SERVICES
Therapy services are provided to a number of children in school districts in Dutchess, Ulster, and Putnam Counties. Coordinated through a district's special education office, these services are educationally related to their existing educational program.
PROGRESSIVE INDUSTRIES
A REHAB Programs subsidiary, Progressive Industries specializes in making customized braces, seat inserts, hand splints and other assistive technology at a lower cost to families.
